Barge Park Training Event
Event information
Barge Park Training Orienteering
Registration from 10am
Course Closure 12.30pm
The emphasis of this event is training. There will be 4 courses and 3 training stations
Yellow is for beginners - 1.5km on a standard map
Orange - intermediate - 2.1 km long . Most of the map is standard, but 4 controls are on a contours/water only map - simplified so you have to follow contours, water or compass bearings
Red Long - 2.6km and Dog Friendly 2.1km - these maps only have contours and water showing on the map - simplified so you follow contours, water and compass bearings
We will have club members availble in 3 stations at the start to provide some focused training on
1 - What is on the map - what the colours and symbols mean
2 - Route planning - what to think about when planning the route between controls
3 - How to use the compass and orientate the map
Because this is a training - it is $5 per person (under 7 years free) , rather than per map as it is designed for everyone to try some navigation. You can still go out together but ideally everyone learns a little bit more by having their own map.
Tuesday night - I will email out a couple of training links to anyone registered by then so you have opportunity to look at a little bit of online training before Sunday. Only a couple of small activities, I promise.
Our thanks to the landowners for allowing us on their land. Please respect the fences, leave gates as you find them and most importantly take nothing with you that could contribute to starting a fire.
As the saying goes.... Take only memories and leave only footprints
Fees for this event - $5 per person (under 7 free)
Register online and if possible pay by bank deposit. If you are bringing cash on the day if you can try to bring the correct change or smaller notes, coins as we have limited change. For internet banking "Training" is the reference and " your surname" is the particulars.
